When an emergency arises and boiler equipment is required in a hurry, we take all the necessary steps to get customers what they need, when they need it. This past September, Nationwide Boiler responded to an emergency call and sent rental equipment to Roseburg Forest Products in Weed, CA for support during a damage assessment of their facility and wood boiler. The damage occurred from the Boles Wildfire that swept the small town of Weed in Siskiyou County, leaving the facility non-operational for a period of time.

Sales Engineer Tim McBride received the initial call from our partner, Cole Industrial, in regards to the customer’s situation. A week later and just one day after the order was placed, a 70,000 lb/hr trailer-mounted boiler, mobile skid-mounted 150,000 lb/hr deaerator and mobile skid-mounted water softener shipped from Nationwide Boiler’s headquarters in Fremont, CA to Roseburg’s veneer plant in Weed. As one of the customer’s requirements, we performed burner modifications allowing them to burn liquid propane gas.

Cole Industrial installed the boiler and handled start-up for the customer. The equipment is scheduled to be onsite for the time being until the entire plant is up and running.

The Boles Wildfire burned a total of 516 acres and destroyed over 150 building structures in Siskiyou County. The town of Weed was hit the hardest with 1,500 to 2,000 people evacuated out of a population of only 3,000. No injuries or deaths were reported, and the cause of the fire was found to be larson (http://www.mtshastanews.com/article/20141011/NEWS/141019964).

Nationwide Boiler recently sold two nearly-new 70,000 lb/hr boilers and economizers to Le Group Simoneau, our rep out of Quebec, Canada. The boilers were purchased for a long-term rental project in Eastern Canada and were needed right away.

The deal was made at the beginning of August, and the boilers shipped within one week of the order. This is just one example of the speedy turnaround Nationwide Boiler is known for when temporary or permanent equipment is required in a hurry.

Today Nationwide Boiler employees participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge! As a company Nationwide Boiler was challenged by Ware, and in return we challenged California Boiler, California Boiler Works, and all of our representatives and partners.

As written on the ALS website, "Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed." To learn more about the disease, visit www.alsa.org

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was created to raise ALS awareness. People who are called out for the challenge can either accept the challenge, donate to the foundation, or both. Nationwide Boiler chose both; we will be donating $100 per employee that participated, including those who poured the water, for a total of $2,000.
