New 110,000 lb/hr Superheat Boiler Provides Increased Steam Capacity

With short summers and weather as unpredictable as it is charming, much of Newfoundland and Labrador relies on NARL Refining’s ability to provide warmth and clean fuel. We were able to assist with the refinery’s needs by providing them with one of our new in-stock 110,000 lb/hr trailer-mounted superheat boilers. The 750 psig design watertube boiler was manufactured by Babcock & Wilcox, who recommended Nationwide Boiler for the job per our stock boiler program.

To learn more about the boiler sale and how we were able to accommodate the customer’s need for an immediately available unit, read our latest case study. (PDF will download in a new window.)

Protect Your Boiler From Freezing Conditions!

We are well into the winter season, which calls for a quick reminder on freeze protection for any boiler equipment installed outdoors, whether it is a temporary rental boiler or your facility equipment. Taking the proper preventative measures will avoid operational difficulties and major damage to your system. During freezing weather conditions, Nationwide Boiler recommends the following:

1. Enclose both the front and rear of the boiler area and use an external heat source to minimize freezing conditions.

2. Install heat tracing with insulation to protect exposed stagnant water lines.

3. Utilize an appropriate heat tracing method (electric or steam tracing) to all of your main lines and piping components. This includes the following lines, which should be heat traced regardless of whether the boiler is in operation or not (in freezing conditions):

a. Sensing lines (steam drum to CRM, high steam, and steam gauge)
b. Auxiliary low-water cut-off
c. Water column
d. Level control blowdown
e. Main and continuous blowdown (depending on length of piping runs)

4. In addition to heat tracing on stagnant sensing lines, drain the lines and fill them with a 50/50 (water/glycol) solution, making sure to re-connect the line.

5. When an extended boiler down time is expected, completely drain the boiler and stagnant water lines.

The above are recommendations, however, be sure to use sound engineering judgement calls when there are concerns of possible freeze damage to the equipment. And remember, with most rental companies, any freeze damage that requires repairs or replacement of boiler components will be the responsibility of the customer, so it is imperative that you take the correct steps to freeze protect your temporary equipment.

Representing New Product Lines

Nationwide Boiler and Pacific Combustion Engineering have been busy this holiday season, adding additional brands to our current list of reputable manufacturers that we represent.

For the states of California and Nevada, Nationwide Boiler has signed on to represent E-Tech Heat Recovery Systems. For the states of Washington, Oregon, and part of Idaho, Pacific Combustion Engineering has signed on to represent Superior Boiler, Webster Combustion, and E-Tech Heat Recovery Systems. Part of Montana is also included with the E-Tech representative agreement.

First off with the Superior Boiler line, we are able to offer customers with high quality Scotch Marine firetube boilers ranging in size from 10 hp to 2,500 hp. Webster Burner builds high tech and cost effective multi fuel burners for commercial and industrial type boilers. Lastly, E-Tech Heat Recovery Systems fabricates fuel efficient solutions that also reduce exhaust pollutants. Products include a variety of economizers, steam generators, waste heat boilers, and more.

Each of these industrial equipment manufacturers have a long standing, reliable product that we as a company are confident standing behind. We are excited to begin the new year with these companies and look forward to a prosperous 2018!

See The DataStak Demo at Power-Gen!

Nationwide Boiler's newest innovative product - the DataStak Emissions and Efficiency Monitoring System - was highlighted in the latest issue of Today's Boiler Magazine. See the article here: goo.gl/3n2W4v

The DataStak provides boiler operators with information related to the emissions output and efficiency of their boiler systems. In today's marketplace, this data is not just something that most energy and facility engineers want to know, but many need to know this information for reporting purposes.

We designed the DataStak system to provide real-time, unified data at your fingertips, from one convenient, on-site source. It is more than just a combustion or NOx analyzer. The DataStak is a cost effective, packaged emissions and efficiency monitoring system with O2, NOx, CO, and CO2 measurements, in addition to real time boiler efficiency, fuel usage and carbon footprint calculations.

Representatives from Natiownide Boiler are in Las Vegas, NV this week for Power-Gen, the largest power generation event of the year. Experience the power of the DataStak, live and in-person at the show! Visit us at booth #6019 to learn how the DataStak can help you stay informed on how your boiler is performing.
